CAFE&HALL ours

Public facilities are usually built for function.
They are efficient. They are practical. And they are often completely devoid of warmth.

CAFE&HALL ours sits inside a massive urban redevelopment in Osaki. It was designed to be a hybrid: part café, part community hall.

But they didn’t want it to feel like a municipal meeting room.
They wanted it to feel like a place that makes you think: "Today was a pretty good day."

They focused on the simple things.
Good food. A comfortable room.
They built a space that quietly elevates everyday community life. A local bazaar or a small weekend workshop suddenly feels more special just by being held there.

The branding reflects this sense of shared ownership.
The logo is the actual shape of the room—a diamond floor plan holding the word "ours."
For the visual identity, they didn't use sterile corporate graphics. They reached out to Egg Press, a letterpress studio in Portland, Oregon, to co-create a warm, tactile textile pattern for the space.

A public facility became a local living room.
And a functional meeting space became "our" place.
